If a mum or dad in the proband is thought to have the pathogenic variant discovered inside the proband, the risk on the sibs of inheriting the pathogenic variant is 50%. As a result of lowered penetrance, sibs who inherit the pathogenic variant might or might not establish aHUS (see Penetrance).
